Meilyr Jones Family Matinee Concert
Entry Requirements: Over 18s only
The Glad Cafe and The Glad Foundation are delighted to announce a new series of matinee concerts in association with Creative Scotland that we're calling Glorious Traces Legacy. These will enable young families and children to experience music in a live environment.
We're so pleased to welcome Meilyr Jones to The Glad for our 3rd Glorious Traces Legacy concert.
Multi-instrumentalist Meilyr Jones is a Welsh singer and songwriter specializing in a whimsical brand of chamber pop. He co-founded the psych-pop-leaning Race Horses (originally called Radio Luxembourg) as a teenager in Aberystwyth in 2005. Singing in both Welsh and English, he served as their lead vocalist for three releases: the 2007 EP Diwrnod Efo'r Anifeiliaid, 2010's full-length Goodbye Falkenberg, and their final album, Furniture, released in 2012. The band performed a farewell show in February 2013 at Clwb Ifor Bach in Cardiff. In the meantime, Jones spent three years at the Royal Academy of Music before dropping out, and assisted some of his compatriot musicians, including appearing on Cate Le Bon's 2012 album Cyrk and joining Neon Neon's touring band in support of 2013's Praxis Makes Perfect. Stimulated by a trip to Rome, Italy in the spring of 2013, his debut solo album, titled 2013, was released in March 2016 via Moshi Moshi Records.
