I do not see why man should not be just as cruel as nature – Adolf Hitler
Phoebe is slowly turning invisible. A Tiger Tamer can see more colours than anyone else in the world. A Prime Minister tries to control his territory. In the midst of them all is Dinah, a refugee woman fighting tooth and nail to reunite with her son, stolen from her at the border. Their stories collide, claws are unsheathed, and Dinah begins to go a little wild…
Wilds is a brand new play about love, courage and the cost of standing up to authority. It was written by competition-winning new writer Lisa VillaMil in response to the rise of populist political groups across the West, and particularly how this has affected the treatment of women, refugees and migrant communities. The play is a commentary on intolerance, a love letter to freedom, and a call to arms for the future. This premiere production in Shawlands is brought to life by a dynamic young company formed by graduates of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. It is an exciting and relevant vision of a world it is terrifyingly easy to imagine.
