Tellef Raabe, hailing from picturesque Ålesund on the Norwegian west coast, spent the past few years establishing himself as one of his native country’s most prominent indie acts. After his acoustic debut Stranger Than the Rest in 2012, Raabe formed a band which since toured Norway and Europe extensively.
Between 2014 and 2017, Raabe released multiple singles, EPs, an instrumental album, remixes, and finally, his international debut album, Idiographic. The record is a scarily mature and complex, yet catchy collection of songs. Raabe pays his obligatory dues to his main influences, such as Morrissey and Neil Young, but his music is by no means a retro affair. Alongside producers Erlend Mokkelbost (JR Ewing), Njål Paulsberg (Put Your Hands Up For Neo-Tokyo) and Matias Tellez (Young Dreams), he has created an album which manages to sound simultaneously timeless and very much in and of its own time.
Raabe is currently undertaking a PhD in media sociology at The University of Cambridge. He is slowly, but steadily, working on new music.
