Strong Island Recordings Presents: Treacherous Tides Vol 2 Cassette

On the 19th February Strong Island Recordings are set to follow up their first Treacherous Tides compilation which featured the likes of The Red Cords, Thee MVPs, Dead Rabbits & Tyrannosaurus Dead with the second in the series which is a delightful cocktail of kaleidescope pop featuring an array of some of the most exciting acts from across the UK to Australia and North Zealand and will be available via digital and cassette.

Kicking off the compilation is Southsea’s hotly-tipped Kassassin Street with their immense wall of sound, festival ready psych-pop meets new-wave anthem ‘Radio Silence’. From the opposite side of the world, ‘Gravity Wins Again’ from Tasmanian quartet Violet Swells is a Tame Impala like, sunshine tinted, psychedelic-pop gem perfect for a summer's day. Recorded exclusively for the compilation and a Bandcamp & cassette exclusive, Wyldest take on A-Ha’s ‘Sun Always Shines On TV’ giving it a coat of their signature sound of enchanting, shimmering dream-pop. Love LUV’s ‘Sold My Love’ is infectious, joyous, garage-pop mirroring the 60’s revival. New Zealanders MOSES ‘Opium’ is perfectly titled. It’s a beautifully sedate, stoner jam delving between psychedelia and shoegaze in the vein of The Brian Jonestown Massacre. Up until recently Love Hippies & Gangsters was a one man recording project, now a full live set up the Turkish experimental psychedelic outfit now residing in London ‘Through Your Mind’ is a shower of guitars and a throwback to 60’s and 70’s psychedelia. Tin Foil Astronaut a new psychedelic-pop outfit from Margate’s ‘Without A Sound’ is a nod to the current Australian psychedelic movement sounding like it came straight out of Perth from Kevin Parker or Jay Watson. It’s a true sun-soaked, colourful psych-pop banger. Closing out the compilation is Life Model’s ‘Enough (To Know) getting a full release. Channeling Slowdive, My Bloody Valentine and Cocteau Twins, it’s a visceral yet stunningly beauitifal and euphoric sonic journey.

The Good Sports '- Peak Performance Limited Cassette

Brisbane psych-pop quartet The Good Sports have been making waves in their native Australia for a little while receiving airplay from the likes of Triple J, FBI Radio, 4ZZZ and RRR from their debut EP ‘Mandarin Time’. The Good Sports are now gearing up for the release of their debut album ‘Peak Performance’ set for release on Strong Island Recordings (UK) and Strange Yonder (Australia) via cassette and digital download on the 7th August.

The Brisbane based outfit are the latest act from the seemingly unstoppable Australian psych movement spearheaded by the likes of Tame Impala, Pond, Gum and King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard. The Good Sports though incorporate more jangly, sixties like pop into their sound and their debut album ‘Peak Performance’ is sun soaked, blissed out, psych meets surf-pop at its finest. It’s the perfect album for sitting on a beach with a few tinnies soaking up a tan in the sun.

‘Titled Peak Performance it sees the band self-produce their finest and most unique work yet. Guitars swap from swirling, modulating melodies drenched in reverb and delay, to fuzzy sixties-influenced leads and back again.’ (Tone Deaf)
