Mike and Herbie's Valentines Jazz Night

St Mary in the Castle, Hastings, GB

£15
Entry Requirements: Under 16s to be accompanied by an adult

They’re back for a special Valentines Day performance. Mike Hatchard teams up with his old mucker, the legendary Bass Player Herbie Flowers.

Ticket includes entry plus a glass of red or white wine.

At one time this duo were quite ubiquitous, celebrating sell-out concerts along the South Coast, the South Bank and the Edinburgh Festival and described in Sussex Magazine as the ‘foremost musical alliance in Sussex.’

Nowadays their appearances together are much less frequent, but they still rock at venues like the Dome in Brighton and the Rye Jazz Festival. Anecdotes abound, stories of discovering Lou Reed asleep on the sofa and waking him up to record (and virtually co-write) Walk on the Wild Side; covers of David Bowie songs with insights into the original creative processes; and less dazzling but equally stunning tales of playing in prisons, hospitals, cycling 1400 miles towing a piano, acting on Bad Girls, performing with the New Seekers to an audience of two...you name it, one of them will have done it...

Captivating without the music, the sheer and effortless musical expertise makes this a concert to savour and be uplifted by.
