Biography

Born in Durban but hailing from Johannesburg South Africa, Shelley-Anne’s passion for singing led her to intensive studies at the National School of the Arts and the Campus of Performing Arts. Thereafter, she trained at the Guildford Academy of Contemporary Music in London, where the likes of Ed Sheeran, Sugababes and Camilla Kerslake are alumni.

She further honed her musical skills by training with Johannesburg-based, award-winning vocalist, songwriter, composer and producer, RJ Benjamin as well as Charlie Rinks, a singer, pianist and violinist from London who specialized in jazz, blues, pop, soul and rock.

Local radio personality, DJ and music empresario Bongani Nxumalo took Shelley-Anne under his wing and introduced her to the South African music scene with the recording and release of her then debut single “Dreams” produced by Angolan-born and Cuban-raised, DJ Dino Bravo who is known for his hit collaborations.

Shelley-Anne emphasizes a career highlight as featuring in a TV special broadcast live to the Carnegie Hall in New York where her ensemble “virtually” shared the stage with legendary and world-renowned South African jazz legend, Hugh Masekela. She has also performed in various musicals including Timeline 80 and Strawberry Jam. She also recorded an album with friends in support of charity titled “Friends at Christmas” – one of her proudest achievements.

Shelley-Anne worked with MAD Media Group in 2018 to release a reworked and recorded version of UK Eurovision entry” Never Give Up on You”

Just over a year ago Shelley-Anne worked with Columbine Records in Los Angeles on a collaboration with a Columbian artist known as Lobo in Shelley-Anne’s original composition "Night of Rapture". Shelley-Anne is not signed to this label and had a great time writing and recording this song that is original to its core.
