SPLIT LP IN A CHOICE OF HIGHLY-LIMITED VINYL COLOURS
A joint venture between Barrel And Squidger Records and Mad Painter, this shared LP showcases two amazing psychedelic retro rock bands: one world-famous, and one yet to really be discovered.
Additionally, the striking sleeve shines a spotlight on the incredible abstract artist Louise Ellerington.
Mad Painter hail from Boston, Massachusetts, USA, and bring heavy, Hammond-driven rock music from the 1960s/70s straight into the present. Songwriter Alex Gitlin leads the group on vocals and organ, drawing direct inspiration from the melodic power of Deep Purple and Uriah Heep. The band's sound shifts naturally from hard rock to psychedelic glam. Over the last decade, they've built a dedicated local following through raw live shows and a genuinely authentic retro aesthetic. That momentum carried through their 2023 album Splashed - which achieved separate CD releases in the USA, Europe and Japan - and a string of singles that landed international airplay in the lead-up to their forthcoming album Island Poetry. This selection showcases highlights from both of those long players.
King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard are one of the most prolific, adventurous, and collectable bands in contemporary rock music. Formed in Melbourne, Australia, in 2010, they have built a reputation for relentless creativity, releasing dozens of albums that encompass psychedelic, progressive rock, and multiple other genres. Known for their energetic live performances and ambitious conceptual projects, KGLW constantly reinvent their sound while maintaining a distinctive experimental spirit. Their fearless approach to songwriting and genre exploration has earned them a devoted global following and critical acclaim. These tracks are taken from their 2017 album Polygondwanaland.
Sleeve artist Louise Ellerington can be found at the Ellerington Fine Art Gallery in Leicester, England. Her amazing, abstract original oil paintings on canvas (front cover: "Warrior"; rear cover: "Song To The Moon") adorn both sides of our LP sleeve.
