Jake Vickers, Ed Dowling and Sam Davies met at sixth form college in Northwich, Cheshire and the line-up was completed by drummer Adam Spence from Chester.
Each of them bring very different influences to the band and this, along with Jake’s unique voice, is reflected in their distinctive sound which is instantly recognisable as The Zangwills.

A number of music journalists and photographers were challenged to suggest who’s fans they might appeal to and reached a unanimous consensus that ‘early Arctic Monkeys’ would be a good fit. Luckily, the band do cite the Arctic Monkeys amongst their influences, along with The Smiths, Pearl Jam and The Strokes, although the question always causes a lively debate.
They are a charismatic band who are generating a lot of interest as their unusual, youthful vibe and unmistakable Northerness sets them apart. The four-piece are fast gaining a reputation for their strong live sets, jumping straight into the festival season in their first year and having headline gigs to their credit.
With a steadily growing base of enthusiastic followers who can already sing along to their lyrics in spite of New Heights being their debut single,
