Rod

Hailing from Catford in London, Rodney Cromwell is the project of Adam Cresswell. His sound has been compared to the vintage synthpop of Kraftwerk, The Cure and Factory Records as well as to that of the space-age 'retro futurists' of Ghostbox Records. His sardonic wit has been compared to that of John Grant.

Rodney Cromwell evokes a classic synthpop sound while still looking to the future. Motorik rhythms combine with melodic bass lines, the chimes of toy instruments, and the bleeps of knackered synths all within a lo-fi pop aesthetic. His songs explore themes including romantic despair, love loss and post-millennial tribulation but still remain positive and upbeat

The debut album ‘Age of Anxiety’ was a surprising critical hit being featured by NME, Electronic Sound Magazine, Huffington Post, Louder Than War, Record Collector and many more. Airplay came from the likes of Steve Lamacq and Gideon Coe on BBC 6 Music, Rusty Egan on Mi-Soul, Amazing Radio and on countless US college stations. In Spain listeners could enjoy the record over their breakfast thanks to playlisting from national station RNE3. At the end of 2015 Rodney Cromwell featured in 25 'Best of' lists and was named 'Most Promising New Act' by The Electricity Club. 'Barry was an arms dealer' featured in the 2015 Official Festive 50.

The live set mixes analogue synths, video visuals and an eclectic mix of live instrumentation, framed by what the NME call Rodney’s ‘offbeat wit.’ He has made festival appearances at Threshold, Indietracks and Madrid Popfest and has supported the likes of Marsheaux, Death and Vanilla and 'snookerstar DJ' Steve Davis as well as selling-out his last London headline date at the end of 2016.

An EP of all new material 'Rodney's English Disco' is scheduled for release in May 2018 and Rodney is touring in support.
