Differences between the former PLB and current PLB.
When PLB/Patrick Lew Band returned to the music scene in 2015. It was a complete reboot of the whole Patrick Lew Experience rather than reuniting the former band.
Differences between pre-2015 and post-2015 PLB...
The original PLB ended under tragic circumstances. I joined the 27 Club by pulling my own Syd Barrett like Eddie did. The post-2015 PLB basically talks about how in the beginning, I was in a shitty garage band that didn’t appreciate or welcome my presence or musical talents. But doesn’t mention the names of the previous band and any of it’s members. Also, any mentions of my common-law marriage with my ex Faith was almost virtually erased or only vaguely acknowledged in the plot. But her likeness never appears in the story.
The original PLB was a tragic rock and roll story of lost causes. Ending in a cliffhanger. The post-2015 era PLB was a story of an outcast in school who eventually got out of a toxic relationship with his former band, started his own band, built his own rock and roll empire with PLB. And became satisfied with life and looks forward to every morning with a smile on his face. Lol.
The music from original PLB is very different from post-2015 PLB. I used to say 2017’s album Oakland was the first real PLB record. The rebooted PLB sounds more like what I wanted the band to be musically, creatively and in studio production values. It’s more halfway professionally done and created.
Comparing and contrasting old PLB and new PLB, only David makes a prominent appearance in the post-2015 PLB. Eddie is mentioned, but due to the intensity of the matter, is only emphasized in a subtle yet positive way. Eddie’s role in the post-2015 PLB is a former band mate who left the band a long time ago, remaining close with me, but later disappears from my life and circle for unknown reasons.
In the original PLB, the villains are my former PLB bandmates Greg and Jeremy, my haters on SoundClick and Faith. In the end of the original PLB, the bad guys won and I lost. In the post-2015 era PLB, the villains often vary...But the antagonists in the story are pretty much mainly my former rival bands (e.g. TheVerse) that I used to play with. But the fate of the story is more positive than the original PLB story.
Madeline Lew did not exist in the original PLB. She exists in the reboot.
The post-2015 era PLB is what the band should have been from the start. Self explanatory. The original PLB was a rock and roll tragedy.
Very few, if any, live videos exist of original PLB. However in post-2015 PLB, there’s plenty of live videos! Watch it on YouTube!
The rebooted PLB retcons and does not acknowledge toxic people from my past. Including exes, former friends and bandmates hella estranged from me. It pretends none of that ever existed! Lol.
In the original PLB, my love interest was my ex Faith. In rebooted PLB, Faith doesn’t exist. Instead, it’s replaced by a myriad of different accommodating lovers in my personal life that help me become a better musician and person, including my girlfriend Alex.
