Combined with the soulful power of Tracey Chapman, the uniqueness of Bruno Mars and a voice that can silence a room, NEFE is a burgeoning Canadian talent on the rise.
With more than 200 submissions, NEFE won the 2013 grand prize in Canada’s Walk of Fame “RBC Emerging Artist Music Mentorship Program” claiming the $10,000 cash prize, studio recording time and industry mentorship. Following her win, NEFE opened for Canadian icon Burton Cummings during his Canada’s Walk of Fame Festival performance at Massey Hall and signed a recording contract with Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company.
Born Sarah Jea Felker, NEFE is a singer/songwriter hailing from the small Southwestern Ontario city of Guelph. Adopting her name from Queen Nefertiti, NEFE stands to lead and empower individuals to accept their real beauty, not succumbing to the pressures of perfection defined by today’s media culture.
Though NEFE’s soft spoken presence eludes many, she is loud on the inside, with a rich soulful voice that is often compared to the greats that have come before her. Recently she accepted an invitation to perform and pay tribute to Amy Winehouse at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival’s Mongrel Media party.
NEFE is currently in the studio putting the finishing touches on her debut EP, which is set to release early 2016. Her single “Free The World,” is available on iTunes now.
