We Are All Here Film Premiere // Mental Health Music Symposium // Very Special Guests
We Are All Here Film Premiere + Q&A
We are proud to present the Scottish premiere of We Are All Here, a short documentary about Glasgow rapper Lumo whose death aged 21 left an indelible mark on the Scottish hip hop community. Piecing together Lumo's complex story from his own lyrics and video diaries, the film also features intimate interviews with his close friends and family and aims to open up the conversation about the young male mental health crisis. The film will be followed by a Q&A with the director and contributors, hosted by journalist Jonathan Rimmer.
Mental Health Music Symposium featuring Loki in conversation with Muslim Alim, with Psychologist Simon Stuart and DJ Steg G
This one off Mental Health Music Symposium aims to explore mental health themes through the medium of hip hop - dissecting bars to discuss addiction, depression, psychosis and more. Tracks selected and discussed by Scottish rapper Loki (AKA Darren McGarvey // Winner - Orwell Prize) and BBC Producer Muslim Alim, with expert input from NHS clinical psychologist Simon Stuart plus tracks played live on the decks by DJ Steg G (Sunny Govan; Butter). Think Desert Island Discs with a Hip Hop / Mental Health spin.
Special Guest Performances from rappers and We Are All Here film contributors A-Macc and Subkonsious, plus Solareye (Winner - Best Hip Hop Act - Scottish Alternative Music Awards 2018) and award-winning poet Leyla Josephine.
