What does it all mean - Rorschach Apr 1, 2019

Rorschach is the opening track on the Whisper & the Hurricane, it is a folk-funk piece in 4/4 and F Dorian.

The song has less meaning within itself, but serves as an opener for the album, which is about mental illness.

One of the ideas I had for the Whisper and the Hurricane was that the final track, London Will Fall, was an event, or crime that could have been committed by any of the narrators of the previous nine tracks, and it was up to the listener to decide which one they thought it might be. As time went on I decided I didn't want to be bound by that concept, but kept the loose beats of it.

Rorschach then, is more about denial in general - denial that anything is wrong, ie any mental illness, and denial that anything has happened, ie in the original concept. The chorus - I won't remember - reflects this refusal to face any part of the situation.

We've played this song at most gigs since it was written, and because of its catchy chorus, it has become something of a fan favourite, and staple of our live set!
