The Winachi Tribe - Being on the road in 2018
In February of 2018 The Winachi Tribe, management and Mancunia Records sat down with a plan to take the UK by storm with a time line formulated for the rest of the year which included the release of single 'Transition' followed by a full UK tour. March kicked off with the band hitting the west Coast of America for a tour which included gigs in Hollywood and San Francisco alongside a special live streamed session for Behringer. On the bands return a special show awaited as they fulfilled a lifetime ambition by walking out to a sold out Parr Hall, Warrington show with close friends and neighbours Slydigs. On April 24th Mancunia Records released the bands latest single 'Transition' on all digital formats which included a B Side special remix by 'Queen of Manhatten' and legendary DJ Daisy O'Dell. Next up for The Winachi Tribe was another special hometown show to kick off the official Transition UK tour. This time they again played to thousands in Warrington town centre as main support to The Fun Lovin' Criminals as part of the towns annual music festival. The tour went north next as we took in a 3 date tour of Scotland with shows in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen. The highlight of these shows being Edinburgh where the Tribe Headlined a full 900 capacity Stramash with a special mention for Glasgow where the crowd were captive throughout a killer set. Non musical highlights of this trip for me included the torture on Sam's face by the Sunday having been up with the Tribe for a few days, a thousand miles from home and tagged Mr Whommit. Fair play to legendary sound man and driver Gary Young for remaining cool and tolerant throughout this 3-4 day journey together where eventually he gave up stopping for toilet requests until Sam was near bursting point and in clear pain. Inder then declared the statement of the tour "Don't fuck with guys bladders man" to which the van roared in laughter and a garden near Dunfermline was promptly watered. One week later was the amazing Bearded Theory Festival in Derbyshire where the band were selected from 2000 applicants to not only appear but headline The Academy of Musics showcase stage. This was a real moment in the bands history as the majority of the crowd were all new ears and as the tent packed out into the fields the band switched them on well and truly. This band are confident, and know how good they are but with every band there is always an element of self doubt, any amongst this lot was eradicated that night as they had the canvas flapping to their funky delights and the punters well and truly caught up in that moment. They were eating out of Liams hands, they loved the taste and begged for more. While most of the band lasted a day or two, Liam stayed revelling in it in true rock n roll style soaking up every moment of the night before while sharing in his new found passion of comedy pants with Tribesmen Niall. Doncaster, Sheffield and Cambridge quickly followed before the capital called for a special weekend in the memories of this special band. In London they were invited by clothes sponsors Pantofola d'Oro to perform an in store gig at the Italian clothes firms new store on Carnaby Street. When the band arrived they realised they were performing outside the store with a full PA set up which bought Carnaby Street to a complete stand still as the public including members from Guns N Roses and The Charlatans plus Trevor Sinclair and Paolo Di Canio admired the Tribes Vibes. Manchester was next stop for the band as our label hosted a Secret Warehouse Party with an old style vibe of everyone there for one cause and one common purpose, see friends, listen to a top intimate live show and party. For the people that came it was a special show the likes you won't get many of. To see such great bands on the pinnacle of something special come together in a small exclusive intimate environment is what it's all about for me. A month break followed the Manchester show which having been so busy felt like a year in real time. Chalfest was next in Stroud where the band were invited by Old friend Keith Allen to DJ at his Nightclub. The DJ set followed the festival which ended in a mad CDJ v Bongo face off as Antony hit the decks and Inder hit the skins. Straight back to Manchester following the unique DJ set for the amazing Blackthorn Festival which I have to give special praise for. Blackthorn is a real grass roots festival where all the local Manchester up and coming bands get the chance to share stages with some big names. This year Winachi had made the main stage with only The Bluetones and Peter Hook topping them. As the band took to the stage I did my usual run around drumming up new ears to the Tribe and was delighted but not shocked when people we pulled in thanked us and agreed with our appraisal of the band. As a result of all the efforts of the wider Tribe we have seen the recognition globally for the single 'Transition'. Receiving global airplay and to top it off an official Grammy Entry for Best Electronic Track. So what's next for us and The Winachi Tribe? We have just announced a new 4 track Ltd edition vinyl run due for release on 21st September. Collectively we are busy compiling the run of Winter dates which sees the band head back to America for some very special shows including another live session for Behringer throughout September and then a run of dates culminating on 17th November for another Secret Warehouse Party in Manchester to be announced soon. Next up though this week its Surf Snowdia festival with Black Grape on the 28th July followed by another trip to the bands second home where they headline Sessions festival in Aberdeen on August 4th.
