Para o disco, Luísa compôs na grande maioria em inglês, mas a língua portuguesa também marca presença em dois originais e uma versão de Rui Veloso ('Saiu para a Rua'). O disco atingiu a Platina em 2011.

'The Cherry on my Cake' is Luísa Sobral's debut album. From the Beatles to Billie Holiday, from Ella Fitzgerald to Chet Baker, everyone fits in Luísa Sobral's universe. Most of the songs are in English, but the Portuguese language is also present with two originals and a version by renowned Portuguese songwriter Rui Veloso ("Saiu para a Rua"). The album went Platinum in 2011.
