What Is Long Division?

Long Division is a Music and Cultural Festival that takes place in Wakefield City Centre, across multiple venues, and is a celebration of Independence and DIY Culture.

2016 is our 6th year, and arrives off the back of a hugely successful Crowdfunding Campaign which saw well over 100 supporters pledge over £7500 towards the festival.

What is happening on each of the three days?

On Friday June 10th we have our traditional opening night gig, which this year is Gang Of Four at Unity Works. Saturday June 11th features around 70 bands playing across multiple stages. Sunday June 12th is our live album recording, this year with Post War Glamour Girls.

Is there a weekend ticket or do I have to buy each day individually?

Each day has its own ticket. Some weekend tickets were available exclusively through our Crowdfunder campaign, but we have found that generally attendees prefer to pick and choose what they want to see.

Does a ticket get me into all the venues?

On the Saturday, at the start of your day, you will swap your ticket for a wristband which will then get you into all the venues (unless they reach capacity). Music will start at Midday and run through util around 11pm.

Which venues are being used this year?

Currently we have Unity Works, Warehouse 23, Theatre Royal, Westgate Chapel with more to be announced.

Are there age restrictions?

The Friday and Saturday are 16+. We offer cheaper tickets on the Saturday (16-17 year olds - £10 / 18-21 year olds - £15) and they can be purchased through this website. There will be some elements on the Saturday that are all ages. The Sunday is all ages.

Is Long Division easy to get to?

It is super easy. Wakefield Westgate train station is 60 seconds from the centre of the festival. The Saturday venues are all 60 seconds apart.

I need a hotel for the weekend. Where should I stay?

The Holiday Inn Express has been recently refurbished to a great standard and the central location is unbeatable - less than minute from most venues.

I'd like to play Long Division - how can I apply?

You can apply via this website. Take a look at the 'Perform' tab. Bare in mind we only book around 70 bands a year and we get around that many emails a week. Applying via Music Glue will make it much more likely that we will see you application.
