Kovax launched in January 2016 with the release of their debut single 'Godot' along with b-side 'Marigolds', and follow up single 'Monkeys' in June 2016, which was played on BBC Radio Leeds and Sheffield. These early tracks lead to the band being featured in Discovered Magazine's 'The North' issue and coincided with three short tours, during which Kovax played alongside incredible British bands such as Youth Man, I Cried Wolf and Nova Hands and at events such as Live in Barnsley and Alt-Metal Fest in Manchester.
Following this, Kovax then took time to work on new material, which was put to the test live in November on an eight-day tour with Nova Hands. The new material went down well, encapsulating the raw aggression and groove based pop-sensibilities the band are known for. So, Kovax then went into the studio at the beginning of December 2016 to work on their debut EP 'If There Was Ever Any Doubt'.
The EP was released on 8th May, alongside a sold-out EP launch show in the band’s home town Leeds, and was praised by music reviewers and fans for its ferocious vocals and chunky, math inspired riffs. Gigs across the north of England in the summer of 2017 cemented Kovax’ status as one Yorkshire’s most visceral live music acts.
Kovax are now relaunching with a brand new line-up, new material and big plans for the end of the 2017 and early 2018, which includes extensive gigging and recording an eagerly awaited follow up single to the band's successful debut EP.
