Of all the stinking, wretched, slobbering post pandemic fights you had to wade into, you chose this one...

Lock up your lockdowns, the greatest music industry social of them all is taking it's jogger bottoms off, putting them in the washing machine for the first time in 19 months, and getting into it's sparkling, dazzling neon suit! Put aside your friendships, dreams of swapping companies or getting a pay rise! Forget all talk of doing a mates rate on the next release, or that support tour favour, this is real... this is brutal... winner takes all (well, and 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th), this is #QUIZWAR! Get thineself down to the Soho Somme for a battle harder than getting a royalty payment out of a well known 90's indie label whose name contains a nasty chemical substance.

Tonight we'll be celebrating the absolutely astonishing work done throughout the pandemic (and before/beyond) by two charities we've had a long association with - Help Musicians and The Music Venue Trust. Help Musicians we've been long time supporters of, and we're very grateful to them for helping us put the event on, and for sharing the billing with a charity both us and they revere for their work in safeguarding the music venues that are the places everything begins for all of us here tonight.

Help Musicians reacted astonishingly quicky to the pandemic, setting up an entirely new payment system and grant in three days, leading to them expediting around £18m to over 19,000 musicians in a financial emergency during the last 18 months. And the work didn't start or stop there. They've been saving the lives of, and aiding in the creative development of our people since 1921, power the Music Minds Matter mental health service, are giving out continuous creative grants, and do remarkable work for retired musicians. It's their birthday, they're 100! The Music Venue Trust have consistently achieved changes to both law and government policy that have proved critical; while protecting some 900+ member venues from closure. An unbelievable team of people we're proud to know. Join us in celebrating both incredible charities. Perhaps even show a them a little mercy when you smash them to quizereens!

Fastest Fingers on The Buzzers style action, with occasional Joker rounds, Derby Day and retro video game e-sport challenges; Lyric-aoke with extra points for singing the answer; and the old favourite, the pop up pirate! General Knowledge, Music and Music Industry questions across 10 truly idiotic rounds.

Prizes to make you weep with both joy and disappointment! Including the mythical Ivor Quizello Award of Barbaric Quiz Warlordery (seen being stolen by Indiana Jones in Raiders of the Lost Ark), Chris's late night Amazon Spree, A £200 Membership to the Phoenix Arts Club, Vinyl and much, MUCH more! The night is about reconnecting with old friends, making some new ones, getting the banter going across the tables - and then killing them.*

Previous quizzes have seen friends come along from Believe, The Orchard, AWAL, Sony, Universal, Tileyard, Leaf Grow, the MMF, IAFAR, Music Glue, Ticketmaster, Tape/Rec, ITB, Midnight Mango, Townsend, Pledge Music, Air MTM, Liquid Management, The Ivors, PRS, Ignition, FastForward, Deviate Digital, CD Baby, Wixen Music, Help Musicians, MVT, SESAC, Phonofile, Absolute, Spotify, Kobalt, Cadenza Box, Primephonic, Music Business School, and many, many more...

We're also delighted to be joined by our friends from PSL who have just launched Silverbox Studios : they’re buying you the first drink tonight. We have been talking with PSL and Silverbox Studios during lockdown to devise ways their technology can assist artists and their teams in complementing their live plans: Silverbox Studios is a private facility in Newbury with an Arena-sized stage suitable both for up to 4k streamed shows or behind the scenes TV format content; as well as full rehearsals for arena and festival shows; and of course rehearsals or complementary tech for grassroots venue tours. They also have the ability to film/stream on the road, and provide a host of sound and vision kit for festivals. Silverbox Studios is the current home of the original Magical Mystery Tour Bus which they are going to be using to raise funds for Help Musicians amongst other things. More on them on the night!

*Metaphorically. This is a safe and ridiculously friendly event.

TBT: That time Believe played their joker and challenged Music Glue/Air MTM Alliance to a game of World Cup 90, and lost in the last second!

Help Musicians is a charity that loves music and for 100 years has been working hard to make a meaningful difference to the lives of musicians across the UK. We want to create a world where musicians thrive.

A musicians’ life can be precarious with ups and downs throughout a career. Opportunities must be hard-won, whilst challenges come along all too easily, with unsteady income and physical and mental health concerns common issues to navigate. In addition, training can take many years and, along with investing in instruments and other equipment, puts up financial barriers to creative progression. Help Musicians offers a broad range of help to support music creators in times of crisis and opportunity - ensuring musicians across the UK can achieve their creative potential and sustain a career in music.

Sadly, the impact of the pandemic has meant that the charity is needed more than ever in 2021. To date we have spent £18m to help over 19,000 musicians survive the financial hardship of the last 18 months and will work hard in the months ahead to help musicians rebuild their careers.

Love Music: Help Musicians

Music Venue Trust was created in January 2014 to protect the UK live music network. Its focus is on securing the long term future of the iconic venues which make up the grassroots circuit, venues like Southampton Joiners, Tunbridge Wells Forum, the 100 Club, Exeter Cavern, Hull Adelphi, Manchester Band on the Wall etc. These venues have played a crucial role in the development of British music over the last 40 years, nurturing local talent, providing a platform for artists to build their careers and develop their music and their performance skills
