Karaoke For Beginners Online Workshop
An online small-group workshop where you'll learn how to sing your best on karaoke night!
As a group we will connect via Skype or Zoom (both of which allow screen-sharing so you can see karaoke tracks with on-screen lyrics, or websites we're talking about). The workshop will cover: - A 12-minute mini-documentary by and for karaoke fans. (I'll send the link so you can watch in advance of the session.) - A look behind the scenes... what all the equipment is for, and what the host (and others) do before you get there to make a karaoke night possible. - Karaoke etiquette: your role in creating a karaoke night that’s fun for all and especially for YOU! - How to pick the songs that you’re best at. (For inspiration, you’ll find downloadable, searchable PDF songbooks in English, Spanish, and other languages at http://karaokeani.com.) - How to hold the microphone, breath control, and other “mechanics” that make you sound your best. - Try out a song or two. Remember, talent is not a requirement! You'll be practicing to get the feel of it so you’re more comfortable in a larger group setting. - Learn one song in Spanish as a group. - Q&A throughout the session.
If you want to get together with friends but have trouble finding a time when you can all be away from home, or if your karaoke pals live in other countries, this online workshop is for you. Oh, and during the session, you may wish to enjoy an adult beverage of your choice!
Q. Can we meet face to face instead of on the phone?
A. Sure, but that means I need to rent a venue, take taxis, and haul my laptop to wherever we meet, plus we'll all want food and drinks (well...drinks, anyway). So it costs money and I need to charge more for the session. However, if you really want to do it that way, you can email me to set up an in-person group session with friends (min. 4 people, max. 6) and we'll come up with a fair price.
Q. What languages do you speak?
A. English is my first language. Let me clarify: American English. However, I am pretty good at Spanish, too, so if you speak Spanish, we can do this.
Q. How does the online consultation work?
A. To participate in consultations, workshops and private classes you will need a wifi connected device: phone, tablet, laptop or desktop computer. Payment is required in advance via PayPal, in US$. You will need to set up a PayPal account to do this. If you have a non-U.S. PayPal account, you can still pay in dollars, and PayPal will do the currency conversion for you based on that day’s market rate. PayPal also allows you to use your credit card or debit card. If you do not wish to set up a PayPal account, you can pay in cash, in pesos, prior to your scheduled session, at the Yahoo Finance conversion rate on the day you make payment. (This is the widget I have on my computer, and I can send you a snapshot of the rate and the amount you’ll pay in pesos.)
NOTE: MINIMUM 4 PARTICIPANTS (MAXIMUM 6), to be scheduled at our mutual convenience) for a 3-hour period.
