Drive - Out Now
Following the release of her critically-acclaimed EP ‘Infatuation’ earlier this year, reigning British Country Female Vocalist of the Year, Jade Helliwell, is set to drop a brand new single ‘Drive’ on 16th November. It comes at an exciting time for Jade, as she has just become an artist ambassador for Firestone’s ‘Road To The Main Stage’ competition, a nationwide opportunity for up and coming artists, co-hosted with BBC Introducing’s Abbie McCarthy.
On the new single ‘Drive’, Jade says:
“Drive is probably my favourite single so far. It’s catchy and upbeat. I wrote it about a personal experience and I’m excited to see what people think to it. I took a lot of influence from the likes of Danielle Bradbury and Kelsea Ballerini so hopefully that shows through too. I can’t wait for it to be available for everyone to hear!”
Jade had a whirlwind 2017. A video of her performing ‘Hallelujah’ with Leeds busker Dawid Osial went viral, racking up over 20 million views. As a result, her EP (released Oct 24th, 2016), re-entered the UK charts, peaking at number 1 in the country charts and number 8 in the all-genre album charts. In February of the same year, Jade won the Yamaha Hoedown competition, securing a performing at London’s C2C festival in March. She went on to win the Yorkshire Roots ‘Outstanding Artist Award’ in September and took home the prestigious British Country Music Association ‘Female Vocalist of The Year’ award in October 2017.
2018 has seen Jade perform at Country On The Clyde, Buckle and Boots Festival, FSA and Nashville Meets London alongside the likes of Sam Palladio, The Sisterhood and Tyminski. She was also invited to record her first Under The Apple Tree session with BBC Radio Two’s Bob Harris, and a Sofar Sounds performance in Harrogate in July. More recently, she has just returned from Nashville, where she spent time in the studio with Music City’s top songwriters, and performed at an industry showcase alongside Jess and the Bandits, and The Adelaides.
To wrap up an impressive year, Jade has once again been nominated for ‘Female Vocalist Of The Year’ at the British Country Music Awards 2018, as well as ‘Entertainer Of The Year’ and ‘Song Of The Year’ for recent single ‘Boom Tick’.
