Bio

With the Gallagher brothers still at loggerheads on their will they won’t they reunion shows, it’s thrilling when a new act channels the spirit of Britpop’s golden era yet isn’t afraid to include references to the more contemporary singer songwriters such as Jake Bugg/Jack Garrett/Kate Tempest et al within his music. Jack Perrett is one such new voice, youthful, bold, confident and unashamedly populist in his outlook and his songwriting.

Jack’s debut EP ‘What You Saying?’ gathered critical support across the UK as well as gaining plays in American and Australia. A side ‘Me And You’ was featured on ITV1’s This Morning television programme, whilst well known arbiter of all things cool and Welsh, Dave Owens included another of the EP tracks, ‘Drunk And Stoned’ in his Wales Online ‘Top 100 welsh songs of 2016’ playlist. Jack capped off a successful 2016 when he was voted into the Final 6 of Project: Aloft Star. In the final Jack performed in front music industry professionals including BBC Radio DJ’s Huw Stephens and Sian Anderson and Spector frontman Fred Macpherson.

Accompanied by his band, Jack has performed in cities all over the UK including London, Cardiff, and Manchester alongside bands such as Himalayas, The Sherlocks and From The Jam. Performing at festivals such as Beano on the sea in Hastings, which involved iconic Britpop bands Cast, Reef and Echobelly.

Under the production guidance of Estrons producer Steffan Pringle, releases ‘In The Morning’, ‘Nothing For Anyone and ‘The Full Jonty’ were all played on BBC Radio Wales. As well as appearances on Janice Long’s show on BBC Radio Wales, ‘In The Morning’ was included on the BBC Radio Wales playlist for 4 weeks. The track also caught the attention of BBC Radio 1 DJ Huw Stephens when he broadcasted the song on his show.

This year Jack went viral with his song ‘Portlife’, a Newport parody based on Blur’s hit ‘Parklife’ achieving over 100k views. Since then Jack has recorded a no holds barred, bombastic terrace anthem called ‘Like A Fever’ which is due for release on Friday 7th December.

Airplay includes ITV1, BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2, BBC Intro Wales, BBC Radio Wales, Nation Radio, GTFM, MonFM, Morphe Radio, Radio Kaos Caribou, Radio Cardiff and many more community radio stations.

Selected Press

“I really enjoyed that, it’s a catchy song. I was singing along by the end of that. (Huw Stephens, BBC Radio 1)

“It’s irresistibly anthemic” (Adam Walton, BBC Radio Wales talking about ‘Nothing For Anyone’)

“Close your eyes and think back to 1994 and the days of jangly Indie guitar music. The LA's and Oasis would be proud to call this track their own. His sound is constantly developing and improving with every new listen I give him and I definitely think this lad has got a bright future. ”, (David Pottinger, Move on up blog).

“Over the years I have given first sessions to The Smiths, Primal Scream, Amy Winehouse and many more. I get a buzz and a tingle when I hear something special. That’s what happened when I heard Jack Perrett. Jack is a great singer songwriter who I instantly booked for my show on BBC Radio Wales” (Janice Long, BBC Radio Wales).
