Dukes
We are thrilled to welcome back Dukes, returning after headlining the festival for the past two years. Hurstpierpoint’s very own village heroes, they’re stronger and better than ever — and we can’t wait to see them play once again.
Formed in 2017 for the sheer joy of making loud, energetic music together, Dukes quickly built a reputation for their powerful live shows — including a sold-out performance at HURSTfolk. in 2023. Their original songs draw on influences from indie, soul, dub, country, and psych-rock, with nods to The Coral, Gang of Four, and Primal Scream.
The line-up brings a wealth of musical history: Matt Poole on vocals (with roots in Brighton bands since the late 90s and experience in a gospel choir); Steve Hartley on bass (formerly of a signed Wakefield band in the early 2000s); pedal-obsessed guitarist Kevin Hall, another veteran of Brighton’s late 90s scene; Liam Dackombe on rhythm guitar (ex-The Rivers, who toured with The Kooks in the 2000s); and Barney Hall on drums, a lifelong player also known from local favourites Room 3. Together, they deliver a thrilling, eclectic sound that always gets the crowd moving.
No Hat For Jo
With Alf Wiltshire on acoustic guitar, Pete Arciero wielding banjo, harmonica, musical saw & melodica, and Roy Shephard holding the rhythm on drums and percussion, No Hat for Jo deliver quirky, original songs with high energy and charm.
Their set includes standout tunes like “Jesus Was A Gemini,” “Telscombe Cliffs” and “Belly of a Whale”, all brought to life by their lively performance style. Supporting festivals, beer fests and venues across southern England, they’ve built a devoted following — their mission: to remind everyone that live music should be a joyous, wild ride.
