Heather McClelland
Heather McClelland's life has been a continuous journey through music. At the age of six, she made her debut performance at an Irish busking festival with her family, setting the stage for a career marked by diverse influences and unique sounds.
Raised in an alternative and musical environment, her formative years were shaped by a deep admiration for the vocal harmonies of Simon & Garfunkel and Crosby, Stills & Nash, which fuelled her passion through university. During this time, she toured Ireland with her band, supporting Mad Dog Mcrea, and honed her skills in live performance.
Over the years, Heather’s musical journey has taken her to prestigious stages including BBC One, Radio 2, The Royal Albert Hall, and Union Chapel. Her singing has been featured internationally in various films, ad campaigns, and TV shows, including Netflix top ten series 'Ginny & Georgia’ and ITV’s Grantchester.
Through collaborations with diverse bands and artists, as well as her vocal trio 'The Sugar Sisters', Heather has gained the experience to delve into exploring and refining her own distinctive sound. Stripping back her instrumentation and experimenting with vocal harmonies, she has developed an atmospheric and ethereal style. Occupying the space between folk and electronica, Heather draws comparisons to artists such as Agnes Obel, Ane Brun, and Daughter. Her music is characterized by its evocative and haunting qualities, showcasing her uniquely pure-toned vocals. Heather's debut EP, "China Mind," was produced by Taz Modi (Submotion Orchestra/Portico Quartet), who continues to play in her live band.
Sarah Gosling of BBC Radio has described Heather's music as “Stark, haunting, a rare dark kind of beauty…we are now obsessed.”
