I wish it would rain....
A stunning debut single from Heywood Moore
Song-writing duo Dawn Moore and Brian Heywood from the Hoedown Band, are releasing their first single on 13th June and although ‘I Wish it Would Rain’ is not a plea you would normally hear in the British summertime, the band are hoping that the song if not the premise is going to prove popular in the coming months.
"This Nanci Griffiths cover is the first song that we performed together so it seemed a fitting choice for the first single" said Brian.
The combination of Dawn’s engaging performing style as both the vocalist and (when required) dance caller added to Brian’s guitarist, vocal and band leader skills have enabled The Hoedown Band to become one of the busiest Country bands in the UK.
They are currently in the middle of their fullest gig year calendar to date which is no doubt partly due to the fact that the popularity of British Country music is increasing daily thanks to UK duos such as Ward Thomas and The Shires ensuring that the genre is getting plenty of radio airplay.
When not on a stage, you are likely to find them racing up and down the major motorways with dates booked from north of Manchester to the south of Dorset and pretty much everywhere in between.
Not that they limit themselves to the UK either. Earlier in 2015, they had a whistle-stop tour of Australia, with performances in Melbourne, the Tamworth Country Music Festival and Dunns Creek NSW. Heywood and Moore, who have been working and performing together for the past seven years, are busy putting the finishing touches to the next two singles as well as recording an album with the band which will be released early 2016. So along with up and coming live radio sessions, increasing corporate and industry interest, it’s proving to be a very exciting time for the band.
