Heywood & Moore are big Down under!
Heywood & Moore Christmas Single is in the Australian Country Top 40
Our Christmas single - Headin' Home (for Christmas) - has charted in the Australian Country Tracks Top 40 at #25 as highest new entry!
This is the culmination of a busy year for us with four single releases (one in Melbourne, Australia) and a successful collaboration with BBC Radio 1 John Peel’s favourite pyschobilly band The Pocket Gods, and the release their first full length album at London’s Alleycat Club in September.
The 13 track album - Goodbye Yesterday - features members of the regular band along with guest players from the UK and Australia. Special guests: included the AMA UK award winning BJ Cole on pedal steel guitar, Hugh McDonald (Redgum) acoustic and electric guitars, along with fiddle from Tom Kitching (UK) and Greg Hunt (Australia), electric guitar from Justin Saban and the banjo of Guy Rogers.
The music is a mix of original classic country, country rock and three covers from Patsy Cline, Nanci Griffth and The Wreckers. Described in the Misfit blog as "The burnished countrified chartpop of Heywood-Moore even sounds as if it could make a killing in the American Bible Belt".
Previous singles have also raised their profile down under with New Zealand Radio describing their singles as "jaunty, airy, catchy" and "a neat country duo". Or as the Musician Magazine puts it "Singer Dawn Moore and guitarist Brian Heywood serve up a melodic country rock and roots brew ... Barnstorming".
