Cello Concerto Elgar Symphony no.5 Tchaikovsky

This will be Richard Lester’s debut with Hastings Philharmonic Orchestra, playing one of the best-loved cello concertos. Elgar’s famous cello concerto was composed in the aftermath of the Great War and represents Elgar’s lament for a lost world. Tchaikovsky’s 5th Symphony is a milestone in the Romantic Russian repertoire. It is a cyclical symphony with an intensely mournful recurring main theme, and includes one of the most distinguished horn solos in the repertoire.
