Esbe is a singer and Royal Academy of Music trained guitarist, winner of the 'Julian Bream Prize for Guitar', composer and producer from London. Her music is an eclectic blend of many influences, from her pure classical roots, but drawing on contemporary, world music and film scoring to produce a unique and distinctive sound.
Her debut solo album, Desert Songs, is a psych-folk/neo classical fusion featuring poem settings by several Middle Eastern writers, notably, Jalaluddin Rumi. Her pure voice explores the depths of emotion in these beautiful poems and reflects the source with a sophisticated mix of the Medieval, Middle Eastern and modal scales, set within contemporary harmonies and instrumentation. Esbe’s second album, Mystra – Songs from Byzantium, also released in 2018 was inspired by her travels in the Peloponnese and Bulgaria.
Esbe has produced and recorded a great variety of music in her North London studio, each project with its own inventive mix of styles. Her two albums, Ten Songs and far Away are due for release in October 2019 and feature her lyrical guitar playing and unusual multi-tracking of both guitars and vocals.
A prolific and versatile composer, Esbe has also recorded two further albums, collections of poem settings, and a song cycle, ‘Elektra’, devised as an animation film, for which she wrote the original story. She is currently working on her next album, a script for another animation project, and a tour where she will perform a programme of songs arranged for string quartet.
