Eleanor Dunlop, like many young women, grew up going to piano lessons driven by her parents’ belief that a classical music education was just as important as learning to read and write. Unlike many young women however, in 2007 Eleanor won Triple J Unearthed’s Top Song for NSW with the single “On Par” off her first solo EP. Since then, Eleanor has formed critically acclaimed band Cameras, toured the US, played numerous festivals including Big Day Out and Southbound and had tracks added to US TV shows like MTV’s ‘The City’.
Now Eleanor has returned to her solo roots with a renewed passion. The release of her new self-titled EP in April saw the single ‘Disguise’ immediately added to rotation on Triple J and receive great appreciation from the industry both nationally and internationally.
Written in the oasis of her inner city apartment, the songs were inspired by an introspective emotional journey of personal growth. Recorded with the guidance of producer/engineer Simon Todkill (Mark Ronson, Matt Corby, Nantes, The Griswolds) her new songs are cinematic yet intimate. Eleanor has a passion for shaping melodies with bold pop sensibilities and the ability to convey the intricacies of emotion through compelling song structures and haunting, ethereal vocals.
Her self-titled EP is out now.
