History Makers, Genre Shakers, Chance Takers. Early Hours have come of age. The gang of four youths hail from Cape Town, South Africa. Since forming in 2012, the band have amassed a loyal following with their refreshing indie tunes and explosively energetic live shows.
Early Hours blend electric indie britpop with a unique African vibe, drawing influence from The Strokes, Bombay Bicycle Club and Vampire Weekend. Their eclectic blend of soaring pop hooks, powerful electric guitars and jiving beats is the soundtrack to your summer.
The band's 2014 summer single, Smells Like Summer, put them on the international map after reaching #1 on the Soundcloud Indie Rock chart. The track went viral resulting in Early Hours becoming the first South African band in history to reach one million plays on a single track.
Their latest release, Dance Along, charted at #12 on the US Viral Top 50 on Spotify. The track was written in South Africa, mixed in Australia by JP Fung (Last Dinosaurs, Jinja Safari) and mastered in the United States by 2x Grammy Nominee Joe Laporta (The Killers, Imagine Dragons).
Since winning the prestigious Converse Get Out Of The Garage competition (previously won by Matthew Mole), the band have recorded at Rubber Tracks in New York City, and gigged in Paris, France. Other highlights include opening for some of South Africa's biggest acts such as Jeremy Loops, GoodLuck and Freshlyground, Rocking The Daisies and more. No matter where you may find the group, you can bet you won forget them.
Right now the band are working on their debut EP. One day they hope to headline Glastonbury music festival, until then they will play anywhere they can.
