ED 2000 biography
Corin Arnold, DJ ED2000 has been working with sound since the mid 1970s and DJing for 45 years, in that time playing over 4500 gigs and hosting in excess of 1500 Radio Shows on Fm and Internet. Born in London, in 1957 to artist parents, he bought his first 7" in 1969 (54-46 Was My Number), joined a punk band in 1976 (Zeitgeist UK), started DJing in 1978 (Billies/Gossips, Dean Street Soho), moved to Berlin (West) in 89 and to Berlin (East) in 1990 more or less immidiatly after the fall of the Berlin Wall. Since 1992 he has had uninterupted radio presence. He is currently resident Dj at Rbb Rooftop Lounge Studio 14, 260 grad Rooftop Lounge and Eschschloraque, as well as on 2 Radio Stations, Cashmere in Berlin and The Face Radio in New York.
He was gifted the Dj name Ed2000 by The Mutoid Waste Company multi media artist group at an Arts symposium in a former Monestary in Plassey in 1991. Earth Dream 2000 is the belief that the current millenium will bring about a better world for our children and their children and that is what Corins Dj name stands for.

He was resident DJ in Tacheles for most of its 20 years post Berlin Wall lifespan. & the longest running resident DJ in the Aktions Galerie, later to become DNA. The go-to DJ for art shows presented by the Berlin British Council, he was invited as one of the headliners at all of the 5 annual groundbreaking “Ab Die Post” young artist festivals. He has also presented audio visual installations as part of the Staendige Vertretung art team at the Plassey Arts symposium. He was booked to play at the Documenta (X) and was also invited to improvise sound for an Artist Show that included film presentations by the video artist Harun Farocki. From early 1994 to late 2022 he lived in an artists collective in Berlin Mitte where he created the first of his Dangerous Dreams Studio immersive installations.
Corin Arnold has been continuously present on radio since 1992, when he established a weekly 5 hour electronica/chillout show at Kiss.FM. This has since been acknowledged as a game changer in the musical landscape of the freshly united Berlin. Thereafter he was the programme director at dj-sets.com, a pioneer in DJ driven net radio. Corin was also a long term resident at Twen.FM, Berlin’s only pirate station to this day. He was a music editor and host to two of his own shows at BLN.FM for 8 years. More recently, the ex “Air Liquid” member Ingmar Koch invited Corin to contribute shows and play sets live on the LSB Radio project. Since 2017 he has a monthly show called Dreamtime on Berlins Cashmere Radio & a weekly 2 hour prime time Saturday night show, Dub Intervention, on Brooklyn based The Face Radio.. Both radio shows are showcases for his individual Dj Style consisting cross genre cross bpm cross era edits with added samples, fills, voice, lickshots and effects. This Dj Style is the core of his Dub Intervention project.
ED2000 was booked by the EU for the 25 years jubilee of a united Germany to perform before 35.000 participants in the Triumph Park, Brussels. He has played extensively across Europe, from the Balkans to UK, Scandanavia, Russia, Japan, Indonesia, China & North America. As co-founder of Dangerous Drums, one of the longest running event series in Berlin electronic club culture history, he has held down a 7 year residency at Tresor. Likewise, he fulfilled a non-stop residency throughout the entire 12 years of the innovator club Maria Am Ostbahnhoff. Via the Dangerous Drums events and label, he has released the work of over 100 musicians and DJs and has hosted performances by over 200 national and international artists. He staged the debut Berlin shows of Kode 9, Pinch and Benny Ill, who are accredited with the creation and establishing of Dubstep. His earliest events in late 80s West Belin hosted New York Deep House Legend Arnold Jarvis, Uk Underground avantgardist Colin Faver, Soul to Soul & Tim Westwood.
He was resident on all Interference Festivals in Berlin, for whom he also managed Mission Record Store in Berlin from 93 to 97.
In 2014, he was invited to DJ the Berlin Burning Man conference post-event chill-out. The same year he decided to set about creating some new input. This has resulted in 2 new current projects, the Dangerous Dreams Studio & Dub Intervention. It is these projects that Corin is currently promoting.
In early 2018, some of Corins Treated Field Recordings, from a trip to a Full Moon World Peace Ritual at a mountain top Temple just outside of Kyoto, Japan, were included as part of a numbered 100 copies only Limited Art Edition by the Croatian Born Berlin based visual Artist Nika Radic.
Post Lockdown Era, Corin is planning to Publish a book about his Subculture experiences in Berlin from 89 onwards. Due late 2024. Working title is Debunk.
During Lockdown he made extensive field recordings in central Berlin to document the eerie and unusual soundscape of a major European Capital City brought to a complete standstill for 2 years. He plans to release these at an appropriate moment but no date is set at present.
