///DIRTY LACES 2.0/// NEW MUSIC/// UK TOUR 2021///
So we haven’t updated this in a while. First of all, thanks to all the fans for sticking with us in this time of uncertainty and what appears, on the surface, to be a period of stagnation. As the months have passed, the world changed in the midst of a pandemic that none of us could have foreseen. At the start it was shock, panic and unease. Followed by a large sense of apathy and unrest as we became alienated from the things that made us human.
It seems that the past 12 months have been a battle for bands to stay relevant with social media as their only outlet. This is something we struggled with slightly as Charlie was the only member confident enough to belt out a John Lennon cover in his underpants. But at least we made good use of our ‘The tour that never happened’ t-shirts raising £320 for our local food bank.
All jokes aside, we have had some joys. Releasing ‘You’ in March last year was a big one. Our 6+ minute single led to us signing our first record deal with Golden Robot Records. We then headed back to Parr Street Studios for a week to lay down some new material.
This week consisted of many highs, lows, tears, arguments and processed foods. But we feel like we got the job done and came out with our proudest work to date.
Subsequently this led to us releasing ‘These Days’ which we felt went down a storm. The single was written in the midst of the pandemic and was really a byproduct of that. Some people felt it was a change of direction for us but we always had it in mind to release songs of that style. It was, however, a bold move to finally do it. Massive thanks for the support on this tune.
As the months went on, the band could have gone either way... It would have been easy for us to go under and retreat what with all the time isolated from friends, family and loved ones - but our priorities were really set in stone. It was obvious to us that music is really all we have in life and it was going to be the creative outlet that got us through.
The past 12 months blessed us with a sense of space and time that gave us a creative liberation that we never had before. We’ve had time to focus on becoming the band we always had it in us to be. The balancing act of performing every week and fighting to survive to keep our heads afloat in one of the most unforgiving industries does take its tole and distract you from what is actually important... THE MUSIC.
We have undergone our most extensive writing period ever and the fruits of our labour do really feel sweet. We can’t wait to share it all with you. We hate to take ourselves too seriously but we have been grafting our arses off to become ‘Dirty Laces 2.0’.
Next week we will be releasing our second single via Golden Robot Records. 'Breathe’. It also has an incredible video to accompany it made by the extremely talented Sophie Barrott. We can’t wait to share it with you all.
This is only a small taste of what we’ve been working on, but we're really happy to be releasing something new into the world and we hope it brings you some listening and viewing pleasure. Please stick with us and all will be revealed.
Sorry for waffling on. But finally... Massive thank you again to our existing fans for sticking with us. We’ve rescheduled our tour for towards the end of the year and more dates will be added so we look forward to seeing you all in the flesh.
2021 / 2022 is going to be huge for us and with your help we can hopefully get to where we always felt we had the potential to be.
Cheers, DL X
