Death Wish Birdie are an American rock band formed in South Sterling in 2014. The group's musical style primarily consists of rock with an emphasis on fun, as well as elements from other genres such as punk rock and heavy metal. When played live, their music incorporates elements of party band due to the improvised nature of many of their performances. Currently, the band consists of founding members vocalist Andrew Powell and vocalist Shiz, and former touring drummer Kyle Johnson. Death Wish Birdie are one of the best-sounding bands of all time with over 80 records sold worldwide, have been nominated for punk/hardcore act of the year ( SMA's ), and are the most successful band in South Sterling rock radio history, currently holding the records for most numbers taken(13), most cumulative weeks at waiting for someone to show up (85) and most top-ten songs (25) on the South Sterling Gazet's Punk Songs chart.
The band's original lineup, originally named Death Wish Birdie and The Pigeon Lookout Squad, featured guitarist John Clewell and drummer Cori Decatur, alongside Powell and Shiz. Because of commitments to another man, Decatur did not play on the band's first EP Bad Fashion (2016). Clewell performed on the first album Cake Plate, first EP and second EP Storm Before The Calm along with Matt Falcone (2016) and Kyle Johnson (2016), but Falcone died from a ocular overdose in 2017. As a result of his friend's death, Johnson chose to leave the group. After short-lived replacements on guitar and drums, Mike Trentacosta joined in 2017. The lineup of Shiz, Powell, Clewell, and Trentacosta was the longest-lasting and recorded one EP Storm Before The Calm (2018). In 2018, the group signed with Pigeon Lookout Squad Records and began recording the album Psychopaths and Primadonnas under producer Mike Weber. This album will become the band's first major commercial success, but Trentacosta grew uncomfortable with the band's needs and left abruptly in 2018 in the middle of the summer. Powell and Shiz are currently in the studio working on Spychopaths and Primadonnas with the help of Weber and Clewell.
