The Gloaming Hour is Bosh's newest EP. I do love the title of this EP. The Gloaming Hour is an amazing time between day time and night time, when the sun is setting but the darkness hasn't fully filled the air. As I write this review that's what the sky is doing outside. This EP has been described by the band as "a step on from 'Sound the Alarms', both artistically and in terms of sound quality" ,a big exciting claim.

Bosh have produced eight Albums/EP's since 1996, gigging up and down the country. They are a band that have been there and done it, and done it some more. The last release "Sound The Alarm" is an amazing album and I am hoping for more of the same. Bosh's record label Risen Records say this about the album ""With 'The Gloaming Hour'; BOSH seek to take the listener on a journey in sound and spirit". So on that note I'm going to write this review as the soundtrack to a night out with friends, leaving the house as the sun is setting for a night out in Cardiff with your best mates. So here goes.

The album starts with beautiful track Moonday Rising which is a instrumental acoustic track which was amazing to listening to while the sun was going down outside. I would love to listen to that by the sea watching the sun go down after a busy day at the office. The Proximity Plea leads on next with its more edgy darker guitar work which reminded me of a time when the Sun has set, the night sky is nearly fully black and the moon is high in the sky. The Proximity Plea is Bosh at its best, with passionate vocals and a powerful chorus. The last 30 seconds of the track is in my opinion the soundtrack for the moment you meet up with your mates and you are now ready to rock the night away. Which leads me to the track Touch Somebody which is a rock n roll track of amps to eleven proportion. "It's in You" features Vera Cruz band member Marc James, to be honest I thought he would add a harder even darker edge to the track, this going from what Vera Cruz sound like, but this is probably the most radio friendly middle of the road track. A great song nether the less but not the best. "Grow Dark" is your end of the night track, when everyone has gone home and the quiet hush fills the room. The track lets you drift away into another place, which is what I was hoping the EP would do, take you to a different world for 6 tracks, with some fantastic piano and the band showing they are more than an indie rock band, this track is full of atmospheric twilight hour sounds. The final track of the EP "Darker Still" is very much the second part of "Grow Dark" and is the end to the EP, it is a full blown beautiful instrumental piano ballad, it's the track that says it's time for bed.

"Sound The Alarm" to me was the most over looked album ever in the British Christian Music world, and I said in my review of that album "Sound The Alarm is full of top quality songs, solid bass, solid interesting thought provoking lyrics and at times brilliant drums." This EP "The Gloaming Hour" takes Bosh to the next level, it's about time people stood up and took notice of this amazing band. Are they the best British Christian Band around now? Buy the EP, make your mind up. I have and the answer is Yes.
