Bateleurs Bio
Bateleurs hail from Wiltshire and weave a wonderful blend of new world Folk/Rock, Celtic and Americana.
Their distinctive sound is defined by the harmonious duel lead vocals of songwriters Sean Amor and Daryl Ball accompanied by a rock solid rhythm section, guitars, mandolin and sublime fiddle playing combined to create a sound that is delicate in parts and raucous in others.
To date they have released two critically acclaimed albums. The band’s debut All In The Past certainly made an impression. “Really good songs, properly played and sung.” said Nick Mason of Pink Floyd. “An absolute classic combo of great stomping tunes, sensitive lyrics and heart-wrenching melodies” wrote the Belfast Telegraph. The follow up album A Travelling Band was described as "the album that defines the band" by Green Man Music, following up with "For a band that seems to set their own benchmark ever higher, this album is going to prove a hard act to follow". Online publication FATEA magazine also gave a glowing review of the album stating "Folk/Rock is on the rise, with many folk artists choosing to merge their traditional styles into a more modern style of playing. For Bateleurs, this is done exactly how people want, a good combination of 'roots' and 'new' so not to alienate folkies but still accessible to new audiences."
Veterans of the festival circuit, Bateleurs have played at over 50 festivals including appearances at the Bristol Folk Festival, Wessex Folk Festival, Wiltshire Olympic Torch Celebration, Wilderness Festival, Old Town Bowl Festival as headliners and of course the legendary Field of Avalon at Glastonbury 2013.
A new compilation of songs selected from the first two albums is now available via this site.
