A mediocre drummer by trade, Davy Flats’ first dalliance into the music industry was in 2008, when he formed The Coonics (later Strange Boats) with three childhood friends. After releasing a number of well received singles, E.Ps and an album, the band took a break and Davy relocated from the West of Ireland to North London where he started writing his first songs at the age of 32. An old man at heart, Davy’s songs tend to be observations about important topics such as Brexit, political correctness, infidelity, religion, consumerism, food fads and mundane tasks. Davy is currently recording his debut album in Sun Street Studios Tuam which is set for release in 2018.
Following on from his successful debut single 'Snowflakes' (which Steve Lamacq from BBC 6 Music described as "the sort of thing that might have tickled his (John Peel's) fancy"), Davy has just released his follow up single 'Avocado' which has received much airplay in the UK with both Steve Lamacq (BBC 6 Music) and John Kennedy (Radio X) adding ‘Avocado’ to their playlists.
