Franghiz Ali-Zadeh’s Mugam Sayagi focuses on a secret 16th century Islamic language which was used to conceal forbidden emotions. In response to this ‘mugam’, we see the T’ang Quartet playing in extreme close up, losing sight of whether we see the sensual movement of flesh or are lost in some unique, unknown landscape. A film directed by Cathie Boyd and made in production with Joseph Lee.
