The Motion Poets
The Motion Poets are a young four-piece indie-grunge band based in Edinburgh. They were formed in 2016 by 4 musicians who met on Edinburgh Napier's Popular Music course, brought together from Aberdeen, Glasgow and Orkney.. Band members Jonah Stead (Guitar/Lead Vocals), Struan Nelson (Guitar/Vocals), Morgan Smith (Bass/Vocals) and Euan Lyons (Drums Vocals) spent 2016 writing, recording, honing their performance skills and crafting a fresh sound with an intense live energy. The Motion Poets recorded their debut single in February 2017, with an accompanied 4k music video being released in April .They played their first gig in August 2016 and have since gone on to play venues such as the Hug and Pint, La Belle Angele, the Voodoo Rooms, Sneaky Pete’s and (a sold out) Electric Circus, supporting bands such as indie rising stars ‘The Sherlocks’ and London alt-rockers ‘Heel’. They currently have 2017 dates booked with Posable Action Figures, Foreignfox, Pyro and Alburn. Outside of writing and playing music the band is interested in seeing gigs, discount beer, and decorating their shared flat with street furniture and fairy lights.
