ABOUT:
BLOODY BEACH is a Norwegian five-piece band that plays an exotic mix of psychedelic pop, surfrock, dub and afrobeat. It was formed when Chris (bass and vocals) and Anders (guitar) met sitting on the same tour bus with their previous projects. After sharing some whisky and ten hours of music, they quickly found out that they wanted to create something new. Back in their rainy home city Bergen, Kim joined on drums. As Arne was the most charismatic frontman they had seen live, they persuaded him to join. When Bloody Beach went into an even more playful direction in 2012, Erlend (keyboard) became the fifth member of the band.
With a mutual interest in artists such as Fela Kuti, William Onyeabor, Serge Gainsbourg and The Clash, the band started developing their unique “Tropidelica” sound. In a recent interview with a Dutch media, Bloody Beach said their inspiration was among others coming from "the sexy sounds of the sixties, with swing from Jamaica and attitude from German krautrock bands" but also from songs like "Tomorrow Never Knows" (The Beatles, "Revolver", 1966).
The five are known for their delightful shows, led by a charismatic frontman, that have the power to turn any audience into a smiling, dancing crowd. It has always been fundamental to Bloody Beach that the songs and its performances should produce a sensation of freedom and fun, a strong feeling that has shown to rub off spontaneously on the audience.
The band's debut album was first released in The Nordic Countries in 2014, and in the rest of the world the next year. It was notably followed by celebrated performances at the Øya Festival in Norway and the Roskilde Festival in Denmark.
One can expect the worldwide release of Bloody Beach's second album in the Autumn 2016.
