“Crime 101 was an incredible movie to have the opportunity to score. At the centre of the story is, of course, the heist. However, it very quickly became apparent to me that this was not just any heist movie, but more a Noir which happens to have a heist in it. The central characters and how their lives become intertwined was more important than the action, in a way. This is high-octane in parts, of course, but what really drew me to this movie was the character development. Lou, Davis and Sharon are the beating heart. I wanted to 'be with them sonically’ throughout. Both the tender and the furious needed to be sympathetic with one another.”
