The XCERTS today announce a headline UK tour, taking in nine dates across January and February, in support of their sixth album i think i want to go home now., out now via FLG Records.

Speaking on the announcement post the release of the album, vocalist and songwriter Murray Macleod said: "It feels like it’s been a long time coming but we are delighted to announce our UK headline tour throughout January and February. We purposefully wanted to give the album some breathing room for people to really digest the songs before we hit the road for our first headline run in support of the record so it’s safe to say we are itching to get back out there and do what we do best. We’re going to dig deep into the back catalogue also and cover each album with intent."

Recorded by Larry Hibbitt at Beehive Studios and written by all three members together in a room for the first time since their early records, the album documents two years that included the passing of bassist Jordan Smith's mother, vocalist Murray Macleod's father's cancer diagnosis, and the end of Macleod's long-term relationship. It marks a return to the raw, urgent sound of early releases In The Cold Wind We Smile, Scatterbrain and There Is Only You, after a run of albums that had pushed toward more polished textures. The tour follows a string of in-store shows and festival sets across the summer, including a full album playthrough at 2000 Trees.

“The result is ‘i think i want to go home now.’, a record of immense beauty, stark honesty and raw intent.” - Rock Sound

“i think i want to go home now. backs up their formative instincts for yanking heartstrings with the confidence of experience.” Kerrang!

"The Xcerts have stopped trying to write a big moment and then immediately made one. It just cost them everything first." - DORK

"a return to a more urgent, scratchy, and unadorned sound" - DIY

“The Xcerts might just be the best new/old band you’ll hear this year.” - Record Collector

“The Xcerts do heart-on-sleeve power-pop as well as anyone.” - Classic Rock
