From their humble beginnings as a late-teenage three piece in Dunedin, wanting to play punk music, to the two piece and armada of guitar pedals you’ve very much heard of present day, Dunedin’s Astro Children have been one of the success stories to emerge from the city’s art-space, The Attic.
Having originally released their debut album, Lick My Spaceship, in conjunction with The Attic and their subsequent singles “Jamie Knows” and “Gaze”, Isaac and Millie join MUZAI not as mere “youngsters” but instead with a lot more experience and worldly knowledge about not only the way the industry works, but also the way a scene should work.
Having known each other from a very young age also helps the synchronicity the two piece exude – at times they can play fast and loose, however also have the insight, almost sibling like ability to know when to gather together once more and act tightly-knit in their music.
The South Island once again has a lot to offer to New Zealand music scene – and Astro Children just happen to be one of those acts with a magnitude of potential that, we know doubt believe, they can live up to.
