“Follow the light, it's so bright, I think I'm going blind...”
A concoction of additive lyrics from Answering Silence's recently released EP, Assembly Required. A tale of drinking, drowning and distortion of the human image.
Answering Silence was formed in February 2012, in Shaftesbury, Dorset, with founding member Edward Diserens (Guitar and backing vocals), Edward Lee (Guitar), Caitlin Angell (Bass), and Billy Bacon (Keyboard and backing vocals). Fellow answerers, Gabriel Alexander (Drums and percussion) and Karolina Janus (Lead vocals) joined the band later, completing the 6-piece wall of sound.
Live, each member brings their musical talents to the forefront. A Jimi Hendrix-inspired guitarist will jump from string to string, whilst belting vocals power you back, and a hoover roars away in the background. Yes, a hoover, it really does make a good instrument when needed. They bleed influences from old and new, including Muse, Black Stone Cherry, Alter Bridge, Enter Shikari, and Ozzy Osbourne.
The band have released their first EP, Assembly Required in February 2014, with much success. Brought together by every member of the band with help from Toby's Sub Studio, and producer Tom Jobling. Answering Silence have taken the call for performing from across the area, as well as stretching out across the country. Recently, taking their EP to The Fleece, Bristol. They are the up-and-coming band on the block, all stemming from local gigs in Shaftesbury, as well as performances at Shaftesbury School in aid of various charities.
These talented group of individuals can have an audience jumping high, and dancing in minutes, and just as easily have you slow dancing across the floor. This is a band that's truly answering the silence.
