Born on Scotland's west coast, Anna Sweeney prides herself on her songwriting abilities. An architect of sparkling pop hooks, the singer-songwriter stands out both lyrically and melodically. While drawing influence from a wealth of iconic artists and songwriters, she maintains a very individual stamp throughout her music.
Having gone from strength to strength since her debut pop release, the self-produced album "GAME FACE" in Spring 2018, Anna Sweeney is industrious, but never takes herself too seriously. Last year saw a packed out album launch, multiple festival performances, a SAY Award nomination, a Lynsey De Paul PRS Prize nomination, and a funding award from PRS initiative "Ignite".
Anna is blazing her technicolour trail through 2019, and shows no signs of slowing down. Summer brought a packed headline show at Glasgow's King Tuts Summer Nights festival, and the release of her infectious new single "Way Back When", which enjoyed airplay from Vic Galloway on BBC Introducing, Nicola Meighan for BBC Radio Scotland, and a stint as "Single of the Week" for BBC Rapal Radio. After headlining a bill at 2019's SXSW in Austin, TX, having only gone to scope out the festival, Anna is now making plans to return officially for 2020. You can catch her next headline Glasgow show on Saturday November 9th, at Stereo Cafe Bar. Expect a night of pop brilliance, wrapped up in glitter and confetti, led by one very ambitious dog lover.
