In November 2009, a study in the Journal of Evolutionary Biology proved conclusively that although big birds are the loudest, tiny birds have far more complex songs. At around the same time, a collective of indie folk musicians - later to be known as Tiny Birds - was formed in the basement of a pub in South London. Since then the collective has been honed into a band and that band is now playing its delicately complex songs to audiences around the city.
With songs covering themes from 16th century painting to the joys of London's night buses, Tiny Birds mix folk sounds with indie songwriting along the lines of Hefner, Fanfarlo, Arcade Fire and Gorky's Zygotic Mynci. If you like vocal harmonies, banjos, ukuleles and sad songs with happy music, they'll be right up your street.
