The Whip - November Tour 2008

The Xcerts

When a band you love has only a couple of singles out, it's like a first date: the excitement; the not knowing what the future holds.  The Xcerts had a low key release at the tail end of 2006, but with My Book Laughs, their first single proper last year, they burst forth like a 10 force gale.  The follow up, Just Go Home, was a throwback to classic Scottish power pop of the 1990's in the vein of early idlewild or AC Acoustics, accessible, anthemic and full of the kind of bluster that makes the best young bands so vital and exciting.  And for the brief time it was played on the radio, nothing else seemed to matter.

In fact the reason why a major label hasn't got down on one knee to offer this Aberdeen trio a long term relationship is a mystery.  Even critics of their heartstring tugging melodies admit that this is a band with the songs and style to move units.
