The Whip - November Tour 2008

The Naturals

Cover Art

Award-winning Bristol band The Naturals began in a dirty attic in the summer of 2004 when 3 13 year olds (Rob (Vocals/Guitar), Harry (Guitar) and Ky (Drums)) spent hours on end writing as many songs as possible using the same four or five chords in different sequences.

After building a small fanbase with their friends, they were joined by aspiring child actor Felix (Bass) who had nobly agreed to forgo his glamourous Hollywood acting career to pluck a few strings on a half-assed guitar with big strings.

Soon they learned a few more chords and got a little better at writing songs and began attracting the attention of various 'industry types'. Manager Matt Booth helped the boys turn down record contract offers from slightly swankier industry types, but most importantly helped them with getting gigs outside of their hometown.

The months passed and 'The Anticipation EP' was released. The band toured as much as they could - from dark pubs housing 6 tired old men to support slots with The Delays - among others, various festivals, and sold out venues accross the South West.

The Naturlas made a special appearance at Manchester's prestigeous 'In The City' music showcase and were soon receiving funding from Warner Bros to record a new record at Modern World Studios with engineer Lee Shepherd (Massive Attack).

However, The Naturals and Matt decided that the recordings were not up to scratch and are currently adding the finishing touches to the new rerecorded EP which is due for release in the near future. The band began finding their own shows around the country including gigs with This Will Destroy You and Six Nation State as the foundations for a promotional tour.

The Natruals have spent years evolving their sound into something that is difficult to compare to other bands and very individualistic (evident on upcoming release). They have built up a large fanbase accross the south-west and have honed their somewhat bizzare craft down to the very finest detail.

They are reputed for a memorable live performance. Come and see them sometime.
