Music Glue - The Band Is The Brand

The Dead Fronts

Hailing from North London, The Dead Fronts are a five-piece with a sound that's dynamic, rebellious and heart-wrenchingly good. When singers Gaz, Jordan and Russell disbanded their former group and recruited rhythm section Muz and Stu they began to carve their own niche as an act of rare warmth and bite. Equal parts substance and style with a camaraderie drawn from meeting at school, it's no surprise the boys rapidly built a loyal fan-base.

Their debut single ‘You and Me' is a shot to the heart. Influenced by other media, such as film, it's an infectious hybrid of indie-punk and surf-rock and utterly classic. Alongside Gaz and Jordan's forlorn, lilting lyrics and their trademark hackle-raising harmonies, Russell's driving guitar leaps across the dynamic range before a final crescendo into full-spectrum noise. Add to the mix some persistent, cascading drums, a waspy, insistent bass-line and an absolutely viral melody and it's clear The Dead Fronts are the real deal - a gang of lads who understand the precocity of modern life and have set it to song. And a startling song it is too.
