Listening to 23 year old Pierre Lewis, you soon realise that he has quite an old (and very possibly, wise) head on his young shoulders. When he talks about his musical heroes there's the odd Kanye West or P Diddy reference, but mostly he enthuses about idols from the 60's, 70's and 80's. From Elvis Presley to Whitney Houston, Burt Bacharach to Michael Bolton he is inspired by them all. But, Michael Bolton? ‘Yeah, he's cool', Pierre declares. "You know when I was at school all my mates were listening to drum ‘n' bass and I'd have ol' Burt blaring out. They used to try and steal my cd's and break them up, but it didn't worry me. I've never conformed and I don't think I ever will."
Pierre's first musical outing, a promotional release of 'Broken' stormed the club charts with its remixes, rising to an impressive no.6 in the POP Commercial chart and hitting no.1 in Music Week's Breakers chart.
As well as writing and recording his own debut album, which he has re-named 'Mindset' (formally known as 'Letter on the door'), Pierre has been writing for and with other exciting up and coming and established artists. The last few months have also seen various musical collaborations, some of which are confirmed to feature on the album and be announced closer to release.
Pierre's new self penned single 'Going' will be released this May and was produced by in demand producer Joe Laurence aka Joe90. Notorious for his infectious drum & bass and hiphop underground tracks, Joe is widely respected as one of the upcoming producers in UK urban commercial music.
