An accomplished musician, Paul Frith is a composer and performer. Alongside a prolific solo career, Paul has played with the likes of Broken Social Scene and Sufjan Stevens.
Paul began writing and performing shows with his current band, "The Considerate Lovers" in 2002. A year later Paul toured Europe and the UK with US Folk Singer Sufjan Stevens, and on one occasion after completing a tour with Stevens, Paul had the opportunity to gig with a string quartet. Excited by this prospect, but with no musical notation available, Paul scored his considerate Lovers set entirely for strings over the course of a week, and the first performance was the first time that either Paul or the audience were able to hear these new arrangements. "The space was beautiful and your set was beautiful... it was a real pleasure" - Sufjan Stevens. This experience reaffirmed his passion for composing and has had a profound effect on his career to date.
Since then Paul has continued experimenting with the medium of strings and orchestral arrangements most recently at the request of XL Recordings who asked for a remix of Radiohead's Reckoner to promote the release of Radiohead's stem mixes, a remix which has been recommended by the nationwide Mercury Music Prize website for "the originality of its arrangement".
Paul is currently is currently mixing an EP of songs recorded with his string quartet, which should be available in the not too distant future, and is set to record again later this year with Ian Grimble (Whose production credits include The Manic Street Preachers and Travis). Paul also runs an acoustic night called Wild Mooney Ricketts, which is held at the Poetry Café in Covent Garden each month, where he regularly performs with his band.
