Netherlands are a Southampton born–London based five piece with the ability to craft stunningly beautiful pop songs.
Yet to play a single note in public, the band, led by singer Jacob Scott, have recently recorded their debut E.P. with producer/engineer combo Jimmy Robertson and Demien Castellanos (Anna Calvi, Big Pink, Florence & The Machine, Exlovers).
Reminiscent of Mazzy Star and Elliott Smith, the bands intimate and nocturnal sound is potent enough to melt even the iciest of hearts. ‘Something or Nothing’ is a bittersweet track which exemplifies Netherlands ability to entwine elegant harmonies with lyrical content way beyond the bands years.
Like a night by the fire whilst it rains outside, there’s a richness and subtle grandeur to their sound, a certain sparkle and charm which grows with multiple listens.
The band will unveil their live show courtesy of Young & Lost Club at The Lock Tavern, Camden (London, UK) on 4th August 2011. Meanwhile, a selection of tracks from Netherlands E.P ‘Places To Haunt’ can be heard at their website http://placestohaunt.com
